Local Efforts

The Great Communities Collaborative’s main efforts are aimed at neighborhoods doing planning around transit station areas. We want to ensure that these communities have the tools to relieve the housing crisis, improve our neighborhoods, and make the best use of the public investment in transit.

Where We've Been Involved

How We Decide Where to Get Involved

There are dozens of land use planning processes underway and dozens more expected to start soon in neighborhoods near transit. With so many planning processes, Collaborative partners must be selective in determining in which planning processes to engage. We want to select station areas where there is the greatest potential to achieve visible results in a reasonable time and serve as models for the dozens of plans underway or in the pipeline. To ensure we direct our energies most effectively, Collaborative partners have developed guidelines that help us determine where and how to be involved. Once a year, we review our opportunities and resources, and decide what other station planning efforts to engage in.

To learn more how we engage, see our Strategies and Actions Chart.

If you think there's another station planning process that we should be involved with, please contact us!
